Professional Journey

How It Started

I wasn't always a walking routes specialist. Back in university at Charles University Prague, I was studying geography and regional development. Pretty dry stuff, honestly. But then I wrote a thesis on Prague's green spaces and something just clicked. I realized how much of the city most people never actually see.

That's when the real work started. I began walking. Every weekend, I'd explore a different neighborhood, document the paths, map the conditions, figure out what made certain routes work and others feel neglected. What started as a personal project turned into eight years coordinating with municipalities across Bohemia and Moravia.

The Vltava River Valley trail system was my first major recognition. We didn't just mark trails — we fixed broken infrastructure, worked with local communities, and created guides that actually reflected what people would encounter. That's when I realized my real expertise wasn't just knowing routes. It was translating real-world complexity into information people could actually use.

Core Specializations

What I Know Best

Practical expertise built from thousands of hours on the ground across Czech Republic

Riverside Footpaths

Specialized in documenting river valleys—the Vltava, Berounka, and smaller streams. I know which sections flood seasonally, where banks are stable, and which paths offer genuine water views versus just proximity.

Prague City Walks

Beyond the tourist routes. I've mapped hidden neighborhoods in Vinohrady, Žižkov, and Holešovice. Know which areas are genuinely walkable, where to find quiet streets, and how different neighborhoods actually connect.

Countryside Trails

South Moravia wine region trails, Moravian Karst limestone routes, and gentle countryside walks through agricultural areas. Understand surface conditions, seasonal accessibility, and working landscape considerations.

Family-Friendly Routes

Routes that actually work with kids. I assess elevation gain, surface stability, rest spots, bathroom facilities, and psychological difficulty—not just physical distance. Real routes, real conditions, realistic expectations.

Route Documentation

Methodology for accurate route recording—GPS precision, surface condition assessment, accessibility evaluation, and seasonal variation tracking. Standards that ensure guides remain useful across years and seasons.

Cultural Context

Routes aren't just physical paths. They're connected to local history, architectural heritage, agricultural practices, and community identity. I document the human landscape alongside the natural one.

Professional Approach

My Philosophy on Route Documentation

A good route guide isn't about pretty descriptions. It's about practical information that respects both the walker and the landscape. Accurate elevation data, realistic time estimates, honest surface condition assessment, and cultural sensitivity matter more than marketing language.

Accuracy First

I've personally walked every route I document. GPS data, elevation profiles, surface conditions—these are measured, not estimated. When a guide says 2 hours, you can actually plan on 2 hours.

Practical Details

What surface will your feet encounter? Where can you rest? Are there water sources? Is the route accessible for strollers or wheelchairs? These details aren't decoration—they're essential information.

Honest Assessment

If a route is muddy in spring, I'll say so. If sections are steep, I'll specify the gradient. If trails cross private property requiring permission, that's documented. Honesty builds trust.

Landscape Respect

Routes aren't extracting resources from the land. They're ways for people to connect with place respectfully. I consider impact on local ecosystems, working farms, and community preferences in every guide.
